New Years Writing Goals

Yes, I know, I looked at the last post--clear back in October. It's been a crazy season. Let me tell you about it.
1. Soulfire edited and submitted. You can read about it here.
2. My son his wife and five children moved in with us.

3. Christmas!
4. My baby girl got married.

5. My seventeen year old son got his driver's license.

So you can see, it's been rather crazy at my house!

I don't have any New Year's Resolution, because those are something most people abandon by February. Instead, I like to set goals. This year I'm blogging about my writing goals. Maybe that will keep me more accountable!
So here they are:
BIG goals:
1. Publish 1-2 books this year
2. Finish 3 novels (I'm almost finished with 2 of them)
3. Read 1 book per week.

Which do you prefer--resolutions or goals? What are your goals for the year?

  1. Wow, what a lot of wonderful things you've had in your life lately. And those are great goals!

Hmm..I guess I kind of think of resolutions as goals. But I definitely prefer goals if we can't consider them equivalent. :)

  2. Betsy, you look way too young to have a daughter with five kids.
My goals are on my blog.
You are a writing maniac. I guess I could write more if I was illustrating less. It's a give and take thing I think.

  3. I look at resolutions and goals as the same essential thing, and I'm good with both. Three books this year? Awesome. Finished "Identity" and loved it.

  4. A resolutions sounds so ... resolute, I prefer goals, because it flows from the tongue and mind much easier ... I love your idea about blogging your goals ... will you revisit them in your blog? You're awesome!

  7. I guess I just look at my resolutions as goals. I guess maybe I should pay more attention to my dictionary definitions, hm? Sounds like a busy (but great!) year! Best of wishes for this one!

  8. My only resolution this year is to read the Ensign cover to cover every month. With resolutions, I always feel like there needs to be a quantity or time figure on it--and this one felt doable.

I have a lot of goals. Spend more time with my children, finish my wip, get my my finished ms to a publisher, do better in my calling. But these are kind of long-term goals with no quantification and it's hard to measure how I'm doing (except the book thing, but I don't like the pressure of having to have something done, because life happens sometimes!)
